What is a Port Forward?

A port forward is a form of Network Address Translation (NAT). Certain applications use special port numbers when traversing the internet. With a port forward you can filter out all traffic on that port and send it to a particular client on your internal network.

Using a port forward for a Web Server on your local network is a common example for a port forward use case.

How to add a Port Forward to your Meter Controller

1. Login at dashboard.meter.com
2. Navigate to "Port Forwarding"
3. Click "Create Rule"
4. Enter in the Port Forward info and hit save
5. Allow up to 5 minutes for the changes to propagate. You are done!
